Instant Pot Pasta with Meat Sauce (gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan options)

  • 1 pound ground meat , 11 ounces {Beyond meat |] or 12 ounces crumbled tempeh
  • 8 ounces Banza gluten-free pasta
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups pasta sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oil of your choice (olive or avocado are what I prefer)
  • Parmesan cheese for topping (optional)


  1. Using the saute feature on the Instant Pot, either brown your ground meat in one teaspoon of oil or heat until warm the Beyond Meat or crumbled tempeh. (If you prefer water saute-ing, you may eliminate the oil.)
  2. Once the meat or meat substitute if ready, pour two cups of water over the top of the meat.
  3. Next, add pasta and stir just a bit to incorporate the pasta with the meat and water.
  4. Last, top with pasta sauce. DO NOT STIR.
  5. Seal the Instant Pot. Press the "manual" button and set for 8 minutes on high.
  6. Make certain the pressure valve is in its sealed spot (that would be further to the right) and let it d its thing until it beeps at you.
  7. At that point, set a timer for 8 minutes. After 8 minutes (during which time a natural pressure release will be occuring and the "warming" button will stay illuminated on your Instant Pot), carefully release the remaining pressure. This is done by rotating the pressure valve to the left. A geyser of steam will come out of the top.
  8. Carefully remove the lid once the pressure valve has released and serve immediately. You may choose to top with a bit of shredded cheese.
