These amazing chocolate glazed cake donuts from Seattle arrived on my doorstep this week.
They look good, right? Well, they were amazing! You know when you eat a really high quality chocolate and the flavor lingers in your mouth, reminding you of the goodness you consumed, making you want more? Yeah, that was these donuts. Even though they were two days old when they reached me, they were better than most fresh cake donuts and had the best chocolate flavor of any chocolate cake donut I have ever tasted. I know those are big words–try these donuts and you will understand!
Here is the shocker about these donuts. They are vegan. Gluten-Free. Soy, Corn & Nut Free.
I heard about Daring Donuts from Gluten-Free Girl. Back in December, she mentioned Kit, co-donutier at Daring Donuts, was building a new dedicated gluten-free commercial kitchen and was looking for other gluten-free businesses in need of a kitchen. While the idea of a dedicated gluten-free commercial kitchen tickles me, it was the thought of having delicious donuts that really made me happy!
After the first of the year, I contacted Kit and she offered to ship donuts to me, but only after telling me she worried that it would be like giving someone cold French fries, they are just not the same as those hot out of the fryer. I explained that I understood her concern and was still interested in trying the donuts.
WOW! If the donuts I received are equivalent to cold fries, I simply cannot imagine how good these donuts are hot from the fryer. How it is possible to remove dairy, eggs, gluten, corn, nuts and soy from a donut and end up with these divine treats is beyond me. I would put these donuts up against any full-gluten, dairy and egg containing donut any day, confident which donut would come out on top. Moist, just the right amount of glaze and very chocolate-y. I mentioned they were chocolate-y, right?
I’m tallying up frequent flyer miles now, a trip to Seattle seems in order. I think I owe it to you, donut fans, to find out more about these delicious donuts!
