There was much debate with my fellow Food on a Stick fans as to whether or not Cotton Candy qualified as Food on a Stick. It’s not exactly on a stick, it’s on a paper cone. It’s also one of my very favorite foods, so I decided it counts.
Cotton Candy was introduced at the 1904 World’s Fair. It was called Fairy Floss then, but by the 1920’s it was referred to as Cotton Candy. I imagine it was probably a pretty expensive treat in those days with sugar shortages. Today it’s cheap, I saw some for less than a buck at the convenience store recently.
Friends tease me about the amount of cotton candy I consume over the Summer. But it could be something deep fried and chocolate-y instead! I prefer the 100 calorie Food on a Stick, thank you. And in that photo above, I’m eating it for breakfast. Yep, healthy living.
