When I made the Raspberry Cobbler in a Jar for Laurie, she asked if I thought the recipe would work with cherries. Deanne shared this recipe with me as a Norwegian Apple Cake, so I know for sure it worked with apples and raspberries. Why not cherries?
Laurie has a cherry tree in her backyard. She had been harvesting cherries and freezing them for future use. Laurie admits to not baking often but said she was going to give the recipe a try, with regular (gluten) flour. Here’s another picture of her cobbler:
It turned out great! Laurie brought some of the cobbler to my husband and he said it was delicious, a word he usually reserves for things made by his wife so this must have been very tasty.
I share this with you because I know not all of my blog readers are gluten-free. Nor do most of you need to be. I share this so you can see how easily most of my recipes can be re-glutened and made with ingredients you have in your kitchen. While the texture may change a bit, most of my recipes will work just fine with all-purpose flour. Try it for yourself and let me know how it goes!
Laurie shared a few of her backyard cherries with me. Even more fabulous than picking berries at a berry patch is getting cherries from a friend’s backyard. Watch for them in a recipe soon!
