Remember last year when I wrote about the Krispy Kreme Donut Burger? And then my husband came up with the Apple FritterLoin Sandwich, which is unbelievably not being sold at a Fair yet. To keep things rolling, the folks at the Krispy Kreme Donut Burger stand at the Kentucky State Fair have added a Buffalo Chicken Krispy Kreme Sandwich.
I am a big fan of Buffalo sauce, however I don’t eat chicken, so I cannot offer you a first-hand review. I couldn’t find anyone willing to try this $8 sandwich either, other than the guy cooking the Krispy Kreme burgers. He told me he likes the chicken better than the burger.
After hearing this was being offered, what I pictured was a grilled chicken breast with Buffalo sauce on it. That’s not what it is. It’s a breaded chicken breast that has Buffalo seasoning in the breading. It looked pretty dry, but perhaps it works when dressed with the available lettuce and tomato options.
On the final night of the Kentucky State Fair, a lengthy line of folks waited to get a Krispy Kreme Donut Burger. With just hours remaining before the Fair wrapped up, folks were patiently waiting to get one last Donut Burger. Of those waiting in line, not a single one was getting the chicken. I hoped to have more input to share with you, but it seems what I can share with you is that the burger is greatly more popular than the chicken.
Any of you Donut Fiends try this? I’d love to hear what you thought!
