I had what I thought was a really great plan for one of my 40 Favorite Things. I was going to share a gluten-free sweet at a gathering at a friend’s house.
My plan was to not mention that I had brought gluten-free goodness. It makes me happy when people eat my gluten-free treats and have no idea it’s gluten-free. I know I’m succeeding at creating delicious food when no one is the wiser.
So I took my treats to a gathering. One of the guests greeted me with, “OH! You’re the gluten-free girl.” Well, sort of. I’m not THE Gluten-Free Girl, but I’m a gluten-free girl. She knew of me from a mutual friend and her husband has recently eliminated gluten from his diet to lower his cholesterol. (This is not something I have heard of, nor am I endorsing or suggesting this. But I will mention that it has changed this fella’s cholesterol numbers drastically. Interesting!) So there were already folks at the gathering who were on to me, they knew I’d only have gluten-free food to share. What they didn’t know is that what I brought to share was also Vegan, so there’s that. 😉

All of that said, I realized at this gathering another of my favorite things: going to a gathering and having the hostess tell me there is something I can eat! My friend Robin, the hostess of the gathering I went to, had gone out of her way to make a treat we both enjoy, Buckeyes, that are naturally gluten-free. How sweet of her!
