Whatcha Up To These Days?

While chatting with another local food blogger at the Duck Funkin’ Donuts gathering, I was asked what I was blogging about this year.  Two things actually!

First, I’m baking a gluten-free sweet and sharing with a different friend each week.  You can read all about it at www.52Sweets.com.  For those of you that don’t eat gluten-free, there’s plenty for you over there.  Any of the recipes can easily be made with regular flour.  Plus it’s a great opportunity to try unusual flours like rice, coconut, hazelnut, potato, tapioca and buckwheat in your baking, many of which are lower in carbohydrates.  And you can read about my friends.  I think they are pretty terrific people.

Second, I have just embarked on the 52 Foods on a Stick journey.  It’s a little different than my other 52 journeys, as it will be completed in only 4 months instead of a full year.  It’s a bit of a challenge but lots of friends are joining me to make it happen.  My stomach hurts just thinking about all of the not-so-good-for-us foods we will be consuming, but it’s sure gonna be fun!

So there’s the scoop, what I’m blogging about these days.  I’m still sneaking in visits to donut shops along the way but wanted to let you know what I am up to currently!

We built a large sculpture a few years back at the Iowa State Fair and were in awe at the variety of foods on a stick. It is on our calendar this year. The entire 52 journey could be wrapped up in one day at the Iowa Fair, stomachs permitting!
