Honey Sriracha Ketchup, a Sweet & Spicy Twist on a Classic

Honey Sriracha Ketchup Ijk

Are you a fan of ketchup?  Or catsup?  Eat it on everything?  While I’m not that crazy about ketchup, I am a big fan of ketchups with a twist.  Curry ketchup on fries is a favorite of mine.  And now, Honey Sriracha Ketchup.  With three common ingredients, you can mix up this ketchup that will have everyone coming back for more.

I’m sometimes reluctant to share such simple recipes.  They are often desperation creations in my kitchen, the sauce/dip/condiment we need in a pinch to complete dinner.  This ketchup is one such creation. I probably wouldn’t have but after sharing a photo of dinner that included this ketchup, so many of you asked for the recipe that I decided it should be shared.

A few quick words on ketchup.  I used Trader Joe’s organic ketchup in creating this recipe.  I have also made this with OrganicVille’s agave-sweetened ketchup as well as with homemade ketchup.  I prefer homemade but we never seem to can enough to make it all the way through the year. Buying ketchup can be overwhelming–there are so many brands, some that include HFCS and even artificial color.  Choose your ketchup wisely, especially if you are like me and prone to eating quite a bit of a tasty condiment like this!

And a tip on what to eat this with:  it’s super good with my Curried Shoestring Sweet Potatoes.  And sweet potato fries.  Also, drizzled on a baked sweet potato.  So basically, I’m saying eat this with sweet potatoes. 😉   I can’t wait to hear what you eat it with!

I have been making this for about 15 years and use it on/in everything from tacos to stir fry marinade. It used to be my secret recipe LOL.
Enjoy this basic recipe but do not be afraid to experiment by adding soy sauce, ginger, Worcestershire or lime juice. I served this basic version with stuffed jalapeños just a few days ago – the red heat compliments and balances Jalapeno green heat
    Enjoy!
